What’s involved in the installation

We start with a survey. As part of that, we confirm whether an air source heat pump would actually suit your property. If it doesn’t, that confirmation also forms part of the evidence needed for HES grant funding.

Fitting is more straightforward than an air source heat pump: wall-mounted units, usually one per room, no external unit and no cylinder to install. It’s a much less disruptive job.

Grant support may be available. HES offers a £2,500 grant plus a £5,500 interest-free loan for high heat retention storage heaters (verified 4 August 2026), subject to an eligibility check, with a further £1,500 rural uplift where applicable (verified 4 August 2026). The grant requires evidence that a heat pump isn’t suitable for your property. Our survey provides that in the form of an MCS-certified installer confirmation, or you may already have an EPC showing you live in a flat. You manage the HES application yourself; we’ll help you through it.

How much do storage heaters cost to run?

High heat retention units use off-peak electricity tariffs like Economy 7 or 10, which makes them significantly cheaper to run than old-style storage heaters. The actual cost depends on your tariff, your property size and how well insulated it is. They’re not as cheap to run as gas or an air source heat pump, but they’re the best electric option available, and the HES grant reduces the upfront cost substantially.

How do you use a storage heater?

Dimplex Quantum units are programmable. You set a heating schedule, they charge overnight on cheap-rate electricity, and release that heat through the day with controllable output. Unlike old storage heaters, which just dump their heat early, these hold it and let you control when it comes through. The controls are simple to use day to day.

Do you replace old storage heaters?

Yes, old-for-new replacement is the core of this service. We remove your old units, fit Dimplex Quantum in their place, and handle disposal of the old ones under our Waste Carriers Licence. The HES grant specifically covers this kind of replacement.

Do you install storage heaters in my area?
