What’s involved in the installation
We start with a survey. We check access, joist depth, existing insulation and any obstructions like pipes, wiring or tanks that need working around, along with damp and ventilation. It also confirms the loft is genuinely unused. If it turns out to be habitable, room in roof insulation is the right fit instead.
Mineral wool rolls are laid between the joists first, then a second layer across the top at right angles, bringing the total up to 270mm. We work carefully around pipes, tanks and hatches. It’s quick, clean work, typically a day or less for a standard-sized loft, making it one of the fastest insulation measures we offer.
Grant support may be available. HES offers a grant of up to £1,500 plus a £500 interest-free loan (verified 4 August 2026), subject to an eligibility check, with energy-efficiency grants covering up to 75% of combined cost, capped at £7,500. There’s a further £1,500 rural uplift where applicable. An EPC is required, and funding is based on your property rather than your income. You manage the HES application yourself; we’ll help you through it. If we’re removing old, degraded insulation, we hold a Waste Carriers Licence to dispose of it responsibly.
