Oil Boiler Installation in Perth

Oil boiler installed at a property in Perth

Your oil boiler is on its last legs, or it's already packed in. You're not on the gas mains, so you need someone who actually knows oil systems and can get to you, wherever you are in Perthshire.

NK Heating Solutions installs and replaces oil boilers across Perth and the surrounding settlements. Over 80 years' combined trade experience between us. If you're weighing up whether to stick with oil or switch to a heat pump, we can talk you through both.

What's Included in an Oil Boiler Installation

Every installation starts with an assessment of your property. We check the oil tank location and condition (your tank needs to be housed outdoors), confirm the best position for the boiler unit itself, whether that's inside an outbuilding or utility space, or fitted externally as a green-cased unit, and recommend the right size for your home.

From there we remove the old boiler if you're replacing one, fit the new unit, connect everything up and commission it properly. Before we leave, we walk you through the controls and hand over all the paperwork.

Air source heat pump installation, Perth

Thinking About Switching to a Heat Pump?

If you're running an oil boiler, you've probably noticed the running costs. Oil is one of the more expensive fuels, and prices move around. A lot of the households we work with in Perthshire have been looking at air source heat pumps as an alternative, especially with Home Energy Scotland funding available.

If you're weighing it up, it's worth doing the maths rather than assuming either way. A like-for-like oil boiler replacement typically runs £5,000–£6,000. Switching to an air source heat pump comes with a Home Energy Scotland grant of up to £7,500, plus an equivalent £7,500 interest-free loan, both subject to eligibility check. Rural and island properties can claim a further £1,500 on top of the grant, also subject to eligibility check.

Here's the honest answer: heat pumps suit many off-gas properties well, but oil is still a perfectly good choice for plenty of homes. If you just want a reliable new oil boiler fitted, that's exactly what we do. If you'd rather explore the heat pump route, we handle Air Source Heat Pump Installation as well and can talk you through the full picture.

FAQs

How much does oil boiler installation cost?

The cost depends on the type and size of boiler, the condition of your existing tank and pipework, and access to the installation location. Rather than quote a ballpark that might not fit your property, we'll give you an accurate price after an assessment. Get in touch and we'll talk you through it.

Do you repair oil boilers?

NK Heating Solutions specialises in oil boiler installation and replacement. If your oil boiler needs a repair rather than a replacement, give us a call and we'll help you work out which you need and point you in the right direction.

Where does an oil boiler go? Does it need to be outside?

The oil tank itself needs to be housed outdoors. The boiler unit is separate and can sit inside, usually in an outbuilding or utility space, or it can be fitted externally as a green-cased unit. We'll look at your property and recommend the best setup during the assessment.

Should I replace my oil boiler with a heat pump instead?

It depends on your property and what matters most to you. Air source heat pumps suit a lot of off-gas homes well, and Home Energy Scotland funding can significantly reduce the upfront cost, subject to eligibility. Many find the numbers work out in the heat pump's favour once that support's factored in, have a look at the section above for the full comparison. But oil is still a reliable, familiar option for many households, and if that's what you want, we'll fit a new oil boiler without trying to talk you out of it. We handle both, so we can give you an honest comparison.

Do you install oil boilers in my area?

We cover Perth and right across Perthshire. Most of our oil boiler work is in the off-gas settlements surrounding Perth, including Dunkeld and Birnam, Bankfoot, Stanley, Luncarty, Scone, Crieff, Aberfeldy, Pitlochry, Comrie, Alyth and Blair Atholl, among others. Around 75% of our work is within an hour to an hour and a half of Perth, but we travel anywhere in Scotland when the job needs it.
