Air Source Heat Pump Installation Perth

We’ve fitted over 400 air source heat pumps across Perth and Perthshire in the last 15 years, and we’re MCS accredited for the work.
Air source heat pumps suit detached, semi-detached and mid-terrace properties well. Ground-floor flats can often work too, but flats above ground floor are normally not viable. The outdoor unit and the permissions needed from other owners usually rule it out.
Live in a listed building? That doesn’t automatically rule you out either. The outdoor unit can usually be sited at the rear, out of view from the street, which solves most of the planning concerns before they come up.
The bigger change is inside the house: you’ll need a pressurised hot water cylinder, roughly the footprint of a laundry cupboard, since heat pumps don’t work like a combi boiler’s instant hot water. With Octopus Cosy-compatible systems, your existing radiators and pipework often don’t need to be ripped out and replaced, which is usually the first worry people raise.

We start with a survey. We check your property’s suitability, look at your existing setup, and recommend the right brand and spec for your home. Around 80-90% of the private installs we do are Mitsubishi Ecodan, so that’s usually where we start.
From there, the outdoor unit goes in, the internal cylinder is fitted, and we connect it to your existing pipework and radiators, adjusting where needed. We’re MCS accredited, which is required for any HES-funded work, so if funding applies to your install, we can carry it through.
Grant support may be available towards the cost, subject to an eligibility check. We’ll cover where to check that below.

We’ve installed over 400 air source heat pumps across Perth and Perthshire over 15 years, and we’re MCS accredited (12 years, via NICEIC/BPEC).
We’re currently in our fifth year on a contract with Caledonia Housing Association, handling reactive maintenance and servicing of air source heat pumps and solar thermal across around 300 properties. It’s the kind of scale work that tells you what a business can actually deliver on, not just install and leave.
Between us, our team carries over 80 years of combined trade experience. We hold public liability, employers’ liability and professional indemnity insurance, so you’re covered throughout.
Because this is an ASHP installation, it’s backed by our insurance-backed guarantee: a 25-year system guarantee and a 2-year workmanship guarantee. We’re a genuine Perth business with real depth in renewables, not a national installer passing through for grant-funded work.
Lower running costs than oil, and increasingly competitive with gas depending on your tariff, plus a lower carbon footprint. They work well alongside modern insulation and suitable radiator setups, and HES grant support can help with the upfront cost. How much you’ll actually benefit depends on your property, which is why we start every enquiry with an honest look at your home rather than a blanket yes.
It depends on your property size, the cylinder installation, and whether your existing radiators and pipework can be reused (Octopus Cosy-compatible systems often mean they can) or need upgrading. If you’re currently on an oil boiler, it’s often worth doing the sums, as the comparison can look more favourable than it first appears once grant support’s factored in. Grant support can bring the cost down significantly, subject to an eligibility check. See the next question for where to check the actual figures.
Often, yes, especially with Octopus Cosy-compatible systems. Some older or undersized radiators may need upgrading to get the best efficiency out of the system, so we’ll check yours as part of the survey rather than assume either way.
Detached, semi-detached and mid-terrace properties suit it well; ground-floor flats can often work too. Flats above ground floor are normally not viable, and listed buildings usually just mean siting the unit at the rear, out of view. We’ll confirm your specific property during a survey rather than guess from a postcode.
Yes. Home Energy Scotland grant and loan support is available for air source heat pumps, subject to an eligibility check. Rural and island properties can claim an extra £1,500 on top of the standard grant. It’s based on the property, not means-tested. See our Grants and Funding page for the current figures.
We work with several trusted manufacturers, including Mitsubishi, Samsung, Vaillant, NIBE, Ideal and Worcester. In practice, 80-90% of the private installs we do are Mitsubishi Ecodan, so that’s usually our starting recommendation, though we’ll confirm the right fit for your home during the survey.
Yes, across Perth and the surrounding Perthshire settlements. Air source heat pumps particularly suit off-gas areas, so alongside the city we cover places like Bankfoot, Stanley, Dunkeld & Birnam, Aberfeldy, Pitlochry and Scone. If you’re not sure your area’s covered, just ask.
